Lords of the Fallen II Trailer Brings Dark Fantasy Back to Life

Lords of the Fallen 2

Lords of the Fallen II has finally been unveiled, giving fans a first look at its grim world and confirming that the sequel is officially on the way. The debut trailer premiered during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, setting the stage for what could be one of the most ambitious Soulslike releases yet.

The trailer doesn’t hold back on atmosphere. It opens with a haunting narration that speaks of forsaken gods, doomed kingdoms, and a mysterious “lamp-bearer” who may hold the power to decide the fate of a crumbling realm. While no gameplay footage was shown, the cinematic reveal leaned heavily into the dark, oppressive tone that the series has become known for.

Players eager to get on board can already wishlist Lords of the Fallen II on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through the Epic Games Store. The listing confirms a 2026 release window, though a firm launch date hasn’t yet been given.

The story picks up 100 years after the events of the 2023 reboot. Once again, the game will allow players to move between two distinct realms, the land of the living and the cursed Umbral world. This dual-realm system was a defining feature of the first game, and developer Hexworks has said it plans to refine the experience this time around. Another major change is how co-op play will work. Fans criticized the unreliable multiplayer in the previous entry, but the sequel is promising fully shared campaign progression from day one.

Lords of the Fallen 2

The development team itself has changed. Earlier this year, several of the creative leads from the 2023 game departed the project. Leadership is now in the hands of senior development director Nathan Richardsson and game director James Lowe, who say they want the sequel to be “bolder, braver, and bloodier” than before.

Reactions online have been mixed but hopeful. Some fans remain cautious after the rough patches of the reboot, while others are encouraged by the tone of the reveal trailer and the promises of a stronger co-op system. Reddit discussions speculate on new gods and monsters making their way into the lore, while many agree the cinematic debut sets the right mood for what’s to come.

For now, the best thing fans can do is wishlist the game on their platform of choice and watch for more updates. If the reveal is any indication, Lords of the Fallen II could earn a strong place in the Soulslike lineup when it arrives in 2026.
