From Air Force firefighter to indie game developer and ALG streamer, Chriscalibrr has turned his military experience and love of gaming into a career rooted in creativity, technology, and community.
Chriscalibrr’s journey began in 2015, when rising college costs led him to enlist in the Air Force National Guard. Serving as a firefighter for six years, he completed an overseas tour in Qatar and earned Airman of the Year honors in 2018. During his service, he focused on improving operations at his base, including proposing a mobile fire station to reduce emergency response times.
“As military members do, we start complaining about things,” he said. “One of the things that was too far away was our most critical aircraft. So I suggested we make a mobile base for the fire station so we could respond faster.”
His leadership and problem-solving efforts, along with projects he led in Connecticut, helped him earn Airman of the Year honors in 2018. While proud of his service, Chriscalibrr knew firefighting was not his long-term goal.
“Firefighting wasn’t my passion,” he said. “I was like, man, it would be awesome to make games. I’m playing them all the time, and I wanted to see what it’s about.”
To pursue that goal, he enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Vet Tec program, which provided free IT training and certifications for recently separated veterans. Through the program, he earned credentials in cloud computing and security and transitioned into the technology field.
“I took full advantage of it,” he said. “They taught you IT skills and gave you certifications at the end.”
That training helped him launch High Calibrr Entertainment, his independent game development company. As its sole employee and CEO, he is currently developing a horror-themed game that combines simulation elements with livestreaming culture.
“I’m just an indie game dev, trying to make a brand new horror game,” he said. “It’s like a Sims-style experience from the perspective of CCTV cameras inside a cultist’s castle.”
Chriscalibrr joined American Legion Gaming nearly two years ago after being contacted by ALG staff member DJ Keens.
“He reached out and said he loved what I was doing and loved veterans in the streaming community,” he said. “I was like, wait a minute, you have a whole organization dedicated to this? How can I get in on that?”
Since joining ALG, Chriscalibrr has become a regular streamer, streaming on Fridays, while maintaining personal streams on Thursdays and Saturdays. On stream, he combines gameplay with behind-the-scenes analysis from a developer’s perspective.
“I like bridging that gap between being a gamer and seeing how the secret sauce is made,” he said.
He also streams using his PNGTuber character, Chuck the Bullet, which allows him to take a more relaxed approach.
“That persona is about playing games how they’re meant to be played,” he said. “Just casually, having fun, and not taking them too seriously.”
In 2025, he attended PAX East as part of his work with ALG, where he focused on connecting with fellow veterans and sharing information about the organization.
“I try to explain that it’s an organization that connects veterans through gaming,” he said. “It’s a de-stressor. It’s one of the healthiest ways to relieve stress and deal with anxiety.”
He continues to encourage veterans to explore gaming communities and find support through shared interests.
“If you haven’t checked it out yet, you’ve got to check it out,” he said. “We have people from all branches. There’s always somebody to connect with.”
Outside of streaming, Chriscalibrr enjoys riding motorcycles as a way to step away from the screen.
“My biggest passion is connecting with people who love games,” he said. “It’s a great way to relax and remember that life isn’t supposed to be taken too seriously.”
For Chriscalibrr, gaming remains both a creative outlet and a way to support fellow veterans. Through American Legion Gaming, he continues to build community, encourage balance, and remind others to take time to breathe and enjoy the game.
