Black Ops 6

On October 25, three major Call of Duty titles—Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare III, and Warzone—will be available on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Microsoft is making Black Ops 6 available to stream on day one for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, giving players the ability to experience the game across consoles, PCs, mobile devices, and select Samsung TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Meta Quest devices. This is the first time Call of Duty titles will be playable on Microsoft’s cloud gaming platform.

Black Ops 6 is set in the early 1990s, offering a full campaign with new gameplay mechanics like omnimovement, allowing players to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. The game also introduces “Supine Prone,” giving players more mobility while lying down, which enhances tactical flexibility. Maps in the game will take players to various locations, including the Middle East, southern Europe, Russia, and the United States.

Modern Warfare III, which originally launched last year, will also be available on Xbox Cloud Gaming the same day. This game, a direct sequel to Modern Warfare II, is centered on a special operations unit attempting to stop Russian ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov from starting World War III. Despite being one of the lower-rated games in the series, it includes a single-player campaign, multiplayer modes, and an open-world Zombies mode.

In addition, Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale game that debuted in 2022, will be available to stream. In Warzone, players parachute onto a shrinking map, battling it out in locations like Urzikstan, Rebirth Island, and Fortune’s Keep. The game’s inclusion on Xbox Cloud Gaming allows players to jump into the action on a variety of devices.

This is a milestone for both Call of Duty and Microsoft, as Black Ops 6 will be the first Call of Duty game to launch on Game Pass from day one, following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Game Pass Ultimate members will have access to Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare III, and Warzone simultaneously on October 25.

Ubisoft holds the streaming rights for Activision games due to a 2023 agreement with Microsoft to secure regulatory approval for the Activision Blizzard acquisition. Ubisoft has licensed these rights back to Microsoft, allowing Call of Duty titles to appear on Xbox Cloud Gaming, and potentially on other cloud platforms in the future. This strategic move enhances the accessibility of Call of Duty, offering more options for gamers to enjoy the series across a variety of platforms.

Black Ops 6 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, alongside its cloud debut.
