Mission Christmas: Solo to Squad 24-Hour Charity Streamathon Surpasses Fundraising Goal

American Legion Gaming wrapped up its Mission Christmas: Solo to Squad marathon with strong momentum after a full day of live gameplay, community participation, and steady donations. The 24-hour Giving Tuesday event brought in viewers from Twitch, YouTube, and Kick, and early counts point to a successful first charity drive for the program.

“The numbers are still being tallied, but I’m pretty sure we surpassed our goal of five thousand dollars for our first major 24-hour stream this past #GivingTuesday,” American Legion Gaming Executive Director Jared Morgan shared on LinkedIn about how well the fundraiser performed.

He credited the response to the people who tuned in.

“A huge thanks to the ALG team for making this happen, and an even bigger thanks to those who showed up to support. This is going to allow us to gift gaming consoles to isolated veterans this holiday season.”

The stream centered on a single goal: Deliver consoles to veterans before Christmas morning. As the broadcast progressed, the chat stayed active, and donations arrived almost every hour. Veterans and service members played a range of titles while talking about the value of online gaming.

Morgan also talked about the strong push from creators who joined the cause.

“One of our new streamers, kiloIndiaAlphawow, raised over one thousand dollars on his own channel,” he said.

The Executive Director described one moment that helped drive donations.

“At one point in the night, I posed a challenge during a fifteen-minute window that I would match any donation made within that time. There were ten and twenty five and fifty-dollar donations. Several of them. Then causeplaysgames donated five hundred dollars that I had to match as well.”

The total from Twitch, Kick, and the website donation form passed the five-thousand-dollar goal, which Morgan said showed how far the program has come.

“This is a testament to the traction that this little initiative called American Legion Gaming has gained, the trust it has built within the community and with our partners and our parent organization, and the dedication of our volunteers to service over self. Humans are inherently good and want to help one another. This is why I work in a nonprofit space,” said Morgan.

Stream Program Manager Justin Macarone praised the teamwork behind the event.

“My team pulled it together. I am so thankful for all their hard work in making our first charity drive a success. We will be impacting the lives of isolated veterans this Christmas, for the better.”

Macarone went on to talk about how the team kept the marathon moving.

“The streamathon started with power duo JimmyNNubs (JimmyCribs and WonderNubs), and ended with Torch327. Everyone volunteered to take a two-hour slot over the course of the day. Around 2 p.m., we had raised 1,000 dollars, and Twitch staff came in and matched it.”

Macarone also mentioned the newest stream team member, KiloIndiaAlphaWoWs, who raised 1,040 dollars by turning on the ALG charity on his own page.

“The team did an incredible job not only streaming and talking about the fundraiser throughout the day but pulling together to make sure we were on for the whole 24 hours. I believe we raised enough money to provide about seven consoles to veterans this holiday season,” said Macarone. “I am happy to know we will be making a positive impact on veterans’ lives this Christmas.”

Mission Christmas also supported the American Legion Be the One program, which focuses on strengthening personal connections for veterans who face difficult periods. The marathon allowed viewers across time zones to join in at any point, and the steady activity helped maintain interest throughout the night.

Donations are still being accepted on Twitch, Kick, and the ALG website. Proceeds go directly to providing gaming consoles to isolated and disabled veterans in the American Legion Gaming community before Christmas morning.

“When you give, you’re not just funding equipment, you’re changing lives.”
