Fans of the Predator franchise are eagerly calling for another Predator game, with excitement building around the upcoming film Predator: Badlands, set to release on November 7. The involvement of Dan Trachtenberg as director has fueled hopes for a game that can deliver the intensity and atmosphere that have made the franchise a favorite among action and sci-fi fans. Anticipation is growing not only among longtime followers of the series but also among newer audiences who discovered Predator through recent films and streaming releases.

The last major Predator game, Predator: Hunting Grounds, was released on April 24, 2020, for PlayStation 4 and PC, then upgraded for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 1, 2024. Before that, the franchise had not seen a console game since Predator: Concrete Jungle in 2005. While Hunting Grounds offered an asymmetrical multiplayer experience that found a loyal audience, many fans are now hoping for a fresh approach. Many fans online say they would like to see a single-player, story-driven game or a third-person action-adventure that mixes stealth with survival gameplay. Others have suggested a large, open-world setting where players can freely explore alien landscapes, track targets, and face unpredictable threats.

Predator: Badlands could be the spark that brings the series back to gaming. This film changes the usual Predator formula by making a young Predator named Dek the central hero. Partnered with a human android named Thia, Dek’s journey expands the Predator mythos in new directions. Weyland-Yutani branding and other nods to the Alien universe have sparked talk of a possible crossover that could fit perfectly into a future game. Fans of the now dormant Alien vs. Predator series have been vocal about wanting to see the two worlds collide again in an interactive format. Such a crossover could give players the chance to experience both sides of the conflict through varied campaigns and multiplayer battles.

The recent direction of the franchise shows a willingness to take risks. Trachtenberg’s Prey in 2022 reimagined the Predator concept in a historical setting, earning critical and audience praise. The animated film Predator: Killer of Killers, released June 6, took the franchise into new storytelling territory. With Badlands potentially serving as the first part of a trilogy, there is creative momentum for new projects beyond film, and the gaming world seems like a natural next step.

A well-crafted new game could dive deeper into the Predator’s culture, honor system, and survival tactics. A cinematic third-person perspective could immerse players in hunting and combat scenarios while providing rich customization and progression systems tied to lore. Multiplayer modes could pit Alien and Predator species against one another in both cooperative and competitive matches, expanding replay value and keeping the game alive for years through updates and new content.
