ALG Streamer of The Week Admiral Bunny

For Admiral Bunny, gaming has always been part of life. From early console memories to modern online communities, video games have served as a constant through childhood, military service, and life after the Navy. Today, as ALG Streamer of the Week, Admiral Bunny uses streaming as a way to reconnect veterans, build community, and create welcoming spaces for gamers of all backgrounds.

“I’ve just always kind of been a gamer as long as I can remember,” Admiral Bunny said. “All the way back to the Sega Genesis and Sonic, the Super Nintendo and Mario.”

Over time, gaming became more than nostalgia. During deployments, it offered a way to stay connected.

“A whole bunch of us got Nintendo 3DSs,” he said. “That’s how we were able to play Mario Kart and different games like that using Bluetooth.”

Streaming entered the picture shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as curiosity quickly became a creative outlet.

“I got into streaming really just to try it, just to see what it was like,” Admiral Bunny said. “It helped pass some time with COVID and was really more of a fun little hobby.”

That hobby eventually led him to American Legion Gaming during its early growth phase.

“I don’t really remember how I came across ALG, but it was when we were really small,” he said.

What stood out was the opportunity to reconnect with other veterans through a shared interest.

“I liked the idea of being able to stream with ALG because I had just joined The Legion and wanted to reconnect with some military people,” he said. “I wanted to find that camaraderie that’s kind of been missing.”

ALG’s mission also played a major role in his decision to get involved.

“The message that ALG has, especially with the Be the One campaign, trying to help veterans,” he said. “With gaming, you can connect with anyone, even if you’re isolated.”

Admiral Bunny officially began streaming with ALG in late 2024 and has remained an active member of the streaming team. In addition to streaming, he joined the ALG ambassador program and focuses on outreach in his local community. Living in rural Iowa, he sees gaming as an effective way to reach younger veterans and future Legion members.

“I’m trying to get some gaming committees formed in my local area,” he said. “A lot of small-town, rural farm areas—trying to get the younger generation to join through gaming.”

For much of his streaming career, Admiral Bunny focused on Old School RuneScape, a game he has played on and off since 2004.

“It’s always been more of a chill kind of game,” he said. “I can play but also interact with chat if chat gets real busy.”

After upgrading his PC, he plans to expand into more modern titles, particularly first-person shooters. “Halo is my big game that I really enjoy,” he said.

Currently, Admiral Bunny streams exclusively with ALG on Mondays and Wednesdays during the morning time slot. He plans to take a short hiatus soon to focus on family, but says the community he’s built will still be there when he returns.

When it comes to advice for veterans interested in streaming, Admiral Bunny stresses authenticity and engagement.

“Just be you,” he said. “Play how you’re going to play.” He also emphasized the importance of interacting with viewers.

“Pay attention to your chat,” he said. “You might only have one or two viewers, but you could lose a potential follow if you don’t recognize them.”

For those considering joining ALG, he encourages taking that first step, even quietly.

“Don’t be shy,” Admiral Bunny said. “You can always join and lurk for a while.”

He added that the community is inclusive.

“At this point, we probably have someone in ALG that plays the game that you play. No matter what you play, you’re always welcomed.”

Through steady streaming and community engagement, Admiral Bunny continues to strengthen connections among veterans, showing how gaming can bring people together long after service ends.
