Cult of the Lamb is set to grow in a big way with Woolhaven, its largest expansion to date. Launching in early 2026, this paid DLC will arrive on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation, giving players everywhere a reason to return to their cults for new challenges and storylines.
Woolhaven takes the Lamb to a snow-covered mountain that has lingered in the game’s lore since release. Summoned by a forgotten god of the old world, players step into a new story arc filled with danger and mystery. This is more than a side update. The expansion adds survival systems where leaders must protect followers from blizzards, build shelters against the cold, and find ways to keep illness, frostbite, and famine at bay.
Developers at Massive Monster admitted Woolhaven grew bigger than expected, saying they “flew a little too close to the sun.” Early previews suggest that the expansion could rival the original game in length, a rarity in DLC. Instead of adding a few dungeons or cosmetic extras, the update changes core gameplay with new mechanics that deepen both the cult management and roguelike combat.
One standout addition is ranching, letting players raise and breed rare animals that provide wool, warmth, and food. This ties directly into Woolhaven’s survival theme, giving cults new ways to thrive in the harsh climate. Combat expands too, with two new dungeons, dangerous enemies, and corrupted beasts roaming the frozen wilderness. Even the weather itself becomes a threat, forcing players to juggle resource management alongside exploration and battles.
The sheer amount of content has led many to say Woolhaven feels like a sequel. While Cult of the Lamb has seen free updates before, nothing has matched this level of ambition. A new region, expanded storylines, survival systems, and fresh challenges point toward a package that could stand as a continuation of the game itself.
Pricing has not been announced, but anticipation is already building. Woolhaven appears poised to deliver more than just additional content. By weaving survival into the cult management formula, Massive Monster is positioning this expansion as one of the most ambitious DLC releases indie gaming has seen in years.
