Bungie has officially announced Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy, The Fate Saga Begins, a four-part expansion that begins July 15 with The Edge of Fate. The saga will continue with Renegades in December 2025, Shattered Cycle in summer 2026, and The Alchemist in winter 2026.
Exploring the Nine and the Nature of Fate
This new saga explores fate and the deeper structure of the universe, centered around the Nine, mysterious beings with unique identities, rivalries, and a heavy presence in our solar system. Unlike past expansions that expanded outward, the Fate Saga stays within the solar system to focus on the forces already at play.
Kepler Offers a New Type of Destination
The Edge of Fate introduces Kepler, a Nine-influenced planetoid filled with dark matter and ancient secrets. Guardians will encounter new enemy variants including Vex Kobolds and Fallen Corsairs. The area features both combat and exploration elements, with puzzles and challenges that make use of destination-specific powers. These include transforming into an energy ball for mobility and attacks, teleporting through barriers, and manipulating the environment using Strand abilities.
New Gameplay and Rewards Systems
Players can expect a new structure to activities and rewards. World tiers offer more control over difficulty and loot farming. A new gear tier system means higher-level content offers better rewards. Iconic weapons like No Land Beyond from Destiny are also returning.

Redesigned Interface and Content Delivery
To make content navigation easier, Bungie is replacing the planetary destination screen with a portal menu that quickly shows available activities and rewards. Updates will now arrive in a format similar to Into the Light, with six-month content cycles including one activity and one exotic mission. The first example is Ash and Iron, which returns Guardians to the Plaguelands.
Solo Modes and Expanded Tools
Players can dive into Rite of the Nine, a new dungeon-style prologue already live in-game, featuring new difficulty options and Nine-themed weapons. There will be a new firing range with scoreboards and an enemy-shooting sparrow, as well as additional activity for solo players, such as the Solo Ops playlist.
A Star Wars-Inspired Expansion Is on the Way
The biggest surprise of the reveal was Renegade, a Star Wars-inspired expansion arriving in December 2025. With visuals and audio cues reminiscent of the galaxy far, far away, Renegade will take players to a lawless desert frontier that channels classic sci-fi western energy. Guardians can wield lightsaber-style weapons, and premium content includes armor sets based on Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and General Grievous.
More Details Coming in September
Bungie made it clear that Renegade pays direct homage to the Star Wars legacy, but further details will be revealed in September. Whether it’s full crossover or just a deep visual reference, this four-part expansion is shaping up to be Destiny 2’s boldest yet.
Welp, time to re-download Destiny 2 again.
I was a huge Destiny fan, yet the grind got to me, plus other things needed my attention. Hopefully others still enjoy the experience of it!
Nice a Star Wars collab! Great for Destiny to continue to receive updates with new content!
Exciting
