Sifu, the martial arts action game from indie developer Sloclap, is available for free on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, May 29. As part of Epic’s weekly game giveaway program, the full version of the game can be claimed at no cost and kept forever. The only requirement is the installation of the Epic Games launcher, which functions similarly to Steam.
Released in 2022, Sifu delivers a gripping revenge story set across stylized, atmospheric environments. The protagonist, a young Kung Fu student, embarks on a personal mission to confront the group responsible for the murder of their father. Battles unfold in richly designed locations such as nightclubs, office towers, and art galleries, all tied together by precise third-person combat inspired by Pak Mei Kung Fu. With over 150 attacks to master, the game rewards timing, positioning, and strategy.
What sets Sifu apart is its aging feature. After each defeat, the character is revived by a mystical amulet, but the revival comes at a cost. Each return adds years to the character’s age. As the character grows older, strength and new abilities increase while maximum health declines. This encourages careful decision-making and adds weight to every encounter. In Sifu, aging grants access to stronger abilities but comes at the cost of reduced health, creating a constant tradeoff between power and resilience.
The game has continued to evolve with post-launch content. The free Arenas expansion introduces five new game modes, 15 combat zones, and 120 challenges. Players can also choose between male and female characters, customize outfits, and adjust combat difficulty through new modifiers. These updates provide variety and additional layers of challenge for both new and returning players.

Sifu has attracted attention beyond the gaming world. A live-action film adaptation is currently in development with Netflix, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski. The game also received a feature in Secret Level, the 2024 video game anthology series on Amazon Prime Video. Its influence continues to grow as more creators explore the themes and mechanics that have made it a success.
Compatible with platforms such as the Steam Deck, Sifu runs well on handheld devices and standard PCs. Its combination of tight combat, creative design, and progression system continues to draw in both martial arts fans and action gamers.
Sifu is free to claim until May 29 at 8 AM PST or 11 AM EST. Once redeemed, the game remains permanently available. This limited-time offer presents a chance to experience a highly praised title without spending anything.
It was free before. Get it while you can, though.
Hopefully we get a sequel
