Steelkrill Studio has dropped a new trailer for its upcoming horror game, The 18th Attic. First announced in January, the game follows a man trapped inside a strange attic where unsettling events unfold, and the only way out is through an old instant camera and a lighter.

The trailer offers a glimpse of one of the game’s most disturbing threats. Mannequins appear to remain still when seen through the lens, but once the player looks away or lowers the camera, they begin to move closer. The presence of these lifeless figures creates a constant sense of unease, where one wrong move can bring the unknown right to the player’s feet. This makes players rely heavily on their surroundings and their timing, building a creeping kind of tension that is hard to shake.

Players will need to explore the attic by taking photos of paranormal entities that reveal parts of the character’s forgotten past. These memories are not always trustworthy. Some photos are misleading, and others carry hidden dangers. With only a limited number of photo cartridges available, every shot matters. Running out of film leaves the character completely exposed. A lighter is available to help guide the way, but it only illuminates small sections of the attic at a time, forcing players to move carefully and think ahead.

Stress builds throughout the game. The visuals start to warp, sounds shift, and what once felt familiar becomes harder to trust. As the character’s anxiety grows, the line between reality and hallucination becomes less clear. To help manage the tension, players can spend time with Biscuit, the in-game cat companion. Petting Biscuit helps lower stress and brings a sense of calm in the middle of the chaos. It is a small gesture, but in a game where fear constantly pushes in, those quiet moments can make a big difference.

The 18th Attic is a mix of psychological horror and emotional storytelling. It relies on atmosphere, sound, and the fear of the unknown rather than jump scares. Steelkrill Studio has a history of creating games that feel personal and a bit off-center. This one continues that trend.

Currently in development for Steam, the game invites players to face their memories while searching for a way out of the attic. The trailer suggests a haunting experience that will keep players on edge from beginning to end. For those who enjoy horror that plays with the mind and tests instincts, The 18th Attic might be one to watch.
