The Boys Trigger Warning

As anticipation ramps up for the fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, the franchise is branching into gaming with The Boys: Trigger Warning, its first official video game. The title brings the series’ violent satire and dark humor into virtual reality with a stealth-action experience built specifically for VR platforms.

The project was first teased earlier this fall by series creator Eric Kripke, who hinted that The Boys would receive an interactive experience unlike a traditional console release. That tease has now been confirmed as a VR-exclusive game developed by Emmy Award–winning Brazilian studio Arvore in collaboration with Sony Pictures Virtual Reality. The Boys: Trigger Warning is currently in development and is expected to launch in 2026 on PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest devices.

Instead of putting players in the role of an established character, the game introduces an original protagonist. The story begins with a routine family outing that turns violent after a horrifying Vought International secret is uncovered. The player is forcibly turned into a Supe and drawn into Billy Butcher’s war against the corporation. From there, the story follows the player teaming up with The Boys to infiltrate Vought and carry out revenge. While the narrative is new, it fits squarely within the franchise’s long-running theme of exposing how deeply corrupt the company really is.

Gameplay focuses on stealth and close-quarters combat, designed to take full advantage of VR immersion. Developers have described the experience as placing players directly inside the chaos, where every confrontation feels immediate and physical. Environmental storytelling plays a major role, allowing players to uncover details about Vought’s crimes as they move through the world.

Several cast members from the Prime Video series are reprising their roles, including Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, and P.J. Byrne as Adam Bourke. Jensen Ackles also appears as a game-exclusive version of Soldier Boy created specifically for Trigger Warning. Trailer footage has already shown appearances by Billy Butcher and Homelander, suggesting meaningful crossover with the core characters.

The developers worked closely with the show’s writing and production teams to match the tone of the series, from its brutal action to its biting social commentary. Sony Pictures Entertainment has said this collaboration allowed the team to fully lean into immersive storytelling in a way that suits the franchise.

The Boys Trigger Warning

The Boys: Trigger Warning is the first game built entirely around The Boys universe. Its release is expected to line up closely with Season 5 of the series, which premieres April 8 and runs through May 20. While the main show is nearing its end, the franchise continues to expand through spinoffs and, now, for the first time, a full-scale VR game.
