OD: Knock

Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele are back with a new teaser for their mysterious horror project, OD. The latest trailer confirms the game’s official subtitle, Knock, referencing Kojima’s personal fear of knocking, and gives fans a closer look at what this first-person horror experience will deliver.

At the center of the footage is Sophia Lillis, who plays a character drawn into a ritual-like sequence. She unlocks a red door, lights candles, and is tormented by unseen knocking. The imagery leans heavily into psychological horror, echoing the eerie atmosphere of Kojima’s earlier P.T. experiment.

The project is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, which allows for detailed character models, expressive faces, and cinematic environments. The trailer shows how Kojima Productions is blurring the line between film and gameplay with its immersive visuals and sound design.

Microsoft is publishing the game under Xbox Game Studios. Although a release date has not been announced, the game is expected to be available on Xbox platforms, with a PC version likely to follow.

Kojima has described OD as more than a traditional game, framing it as an experiment in testing “fear thresholds.” Peele’s creative input is said to focus on narrative depth and psychological dread, elements that have defined his filmmaking in movies like Get Out and Nope. Peele stated during an earlier reveal that he sees OD as a chance to tell a story that only works through interactive media.

The preview suggests much of the action will unfold in first-person, heightening the sense of vulnerability. Fans familiar with Kojima’s earlier work will recognize the slow-burn pacing, surreal imagery, and dread-filled buildup. Whether OD will become a full successor to P.T. is still unclear, but Knock suggests the project is headed in that direction.

Unanswered questions remain, including whether the game will remain exclusive to Xbox consoles, how Peele’s contributions are integrated into the story, and what role the “Knock” subtitle plays in the larger narrative. Kojima has hinted that more cast members and story details will be revealed in the coming months.

What is clear from the trailer is the creative ambition driving the project. Kojima’s track record of experimenting with cinematic storytelling and game mechanics, combined with Peele’s reputation for tension-filled narratives, sets expectations high. Lillis’ performance adds a grounded intensity that could give the game’s horror sequences even more impact.

Fans of both creators will be watching closely to see how the experiment unfolds, and whether it redefines what a first-person horror game can achieve.
