Two of Brass Lion Entertainment’s top execs, CEO Bryna Dabby Smith and Chief Creative Officer Rashad Redic, took the stage at IGN Live on Saturday to unveil Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver — a co-op action RPG that fuses anime-style fighting with an afro-surrealist aesthetic.
Their game, which debuted with a teaser trailer at Summer Game Fest 2025, marks a bold new chapter in the Wu-Tang Clan’s legacy. A spiritual successor to the cult classic Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style (1999), Rise of the Deceiver sees the legendary rap group passing their mystical powers to a new generation of warriors fighting to protect Shaolin from an invasive, corrupting entity known as the Deceiver.
Smith’s experience spans decades in interactive content and major game titles like The Bourne Conspiracy and Sleeping Dogs. Meanwhile, Redic brings a West Coast vibe honed by his work on Skyrim and Fallout 3 to the project, ensuring Rise of the Deceiver blends style and substance. Together, they’ve marshaled a team of 53 contributors across North America to bring this vision to life.
In the game, up to three players can battle through Chambers of the Medium, each level more twisted and challenging than the last. Players customize their fighting style and appearance, collect mystical Jewels and gear, and battle to a soundtrack of classic Wu-Tang tracks and new music overseen by Just Blaze.
Brass Lion’s approach is rooted in diversity and cultural authenticity, blending afro-surrealist visuals with the raw energy of the Wu-Tang Clan’s music and mythology. Their mission? To create a game that resonates with fans of hip-hop, anime, and dynamic co-op gameplay.
It’s been years since Wu-Tang Clan’s last video game (Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style for PlayStation), a blood-soaked fighter that let fans take on the roles of Method Man, ODB, and others. Now, Rise of the Deceiver is poised to reimagine Wu-Tang’s world for a new generation, and it’s shaping up to be a most-anticipated release of the year.
