With E3 officially retired, Summer Game Fest has become the main event for mid-year gaming news. Running from June 6 to June 8, this year’s festival includes over sixty partners such as Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation, Square Enix, and Capcom. SGF now serves as the top source for new announcements before Gamescom in August.

The event will have livestreams, developer interviews, in-person demos, and numerous showcases covering everything from blockbuster titles to indie games.

Summer Game Fest Live Kicks Off June 6

Summer Game Fest Live starts on June 6 at 2 PM Pacific from the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. This two-hour show will stream on YouTube, Twitch, X, and TikTok.

Hosted by Geoff Keighley, it will feature world premieres and trailers. Confirmed games include Wuchang Fallen Feathers and the MMORPG Chrono Odyssey. Hideo Kojima will appear, likely showing one final trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and possibly updates on other projects like OD.

Day of the Devs Showcases Indie Creativity

Immediately after SGF Live at 4 PM Pacific, Day of the Devs will present twenty games from innovative developers. Titles expected include Heart Machine, Neverway, and a new look at Big Walk from House House, creators of Untitled Goose Game.

June 7 Features Themed Showcases

Saturday includes several focused streams:

• Wholesome Direct at 9 AM Pacific features around sixty cozy, story-rich games from developers like ustwo and Wētā Workshop, whose Tales of the Shire releases this summer.
• The Women-led Games Showcase at 10 AM presents thirty-nine titles from women-led studios.
• The Latin American Games Showcase at 11 AM highlights over fifty games from Latin American creators.
• The Southeast Asian Games Showcase airs at noon, showing work from a growing region.
• At 1 PM, two streams run simultaneously: the Future Games Show with over forty titles, and the Green Games Showcase, a new event spotlighting environmentally focused games. This stream includes a fundraiser to plant 50,000 trees.

Xbox Takes Center Stage June 8

Sunday’s main event is the Xbox Games Showcase at 10 AM Pacific. This is Microsoft’s biggest Xbox-related event of the year. Expect updates on Fable, Perfect Dark, Gears of War E-Day, State of Decay 3, and The Outer Worlds 2, which will get its own segment afterward.

Fans are eagerly waiting news on Arkane’s Blade, Kojima’s OD, and the next Call of Duty. Many games will launch day one on Game Pass.

Additional Events and Coverage

Other events include the Access-Ability Summer Showcase on June 6 and the PC Gaming Show on June 8. Engadget will offer hands-on coverage at Play Days, an invite-only media event in Los Angeles. A new business-focused event will also explore industry challenges and celebrate the cultural impact of games.
