EA and Bit Reactor Reveal Star Wars Zero Company

by | Apr 15, 2025 | News, Video Games | 0 comments

Electronic Arts has officially unveiled Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player, turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars era. The title is being developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. While the initial announcement offers limited details, the game will receive a full reveal during a dedicated panel at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo on April 19.

Star Wars Zero Company is the first game from Bit Reactor. The studio, founded in 2021 in Hunt Valley, Maryland, is composed of developers from Firaxis Games and other high-profile studios. Its team has worked on well-known strategy franchises such as XCOM, Gears of War, Sid Meier’s Civilization, and The Elder Scrolls Online. Though Bit Reactor is leading the game’s development, Respawn, known for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Apex Legends, is involved in production.

The game had previously been known to be in development, but until now, no official title or story details had been revealed. EA confirmed the game’s existence alongside other Star Wars projects, though some, including a Respawn-led Star Wars shooter and another FPS project, have since been cancelled. The official confirmation of Zero Company follows EA’s loss of exclusivity on Star Wars game development, a change that has allowed other publishers and developers to enter the franchise space.

Although few gameplay specifics have been shared, a single piece of key art accompanied the announcement. The image features six characters and hints at a story-driven, squad-based format. Among them are a Tognath Jedi wielding a lightsaber, a human dressed like a scoundrel accompanied by an R5 droid, a Mandalorian from an unknown house, an Umbaran soldier, a Clone Trooper wearing battle-damaged Phase-I armor, and a mysterious figure in a bulky, tech-enhanced suit. The combination of species and roles draws heavily from prequel-era worldbuilding, aligning the tone with that of Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

The game will be formally showcased during a live panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan. Scheduled for April 19 at 12:30 a.m. PDT / 3:30 a.m. EDT, the one-hour panel will be hosted by Lucy James and feature developers from Bit Reactor, Respawn, and Lucasfilm Games. This presentation is expected to provide the first gameplay footage, narrative details, and possibly a release window.

While there is no confirmed launch date yet, Star Wars Zero Company is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. With its tactical gameplay roots, deep Star Wars lore, and a seasoned development team, Zero Company stands out as one of the most anticipated entries in the expanding galaxy of Star Wars games. Fans eager to learn more will need to tune into Star Wars Celebration for the game’s first full unveiling.
