Fortnite’s latest crossover pulls players straight into the world of Squid Game with a new limited-time map in Reload mode. The update went live this morning, the same day Squid Game Season 3 dropped on Netflix. Players have one weekend to explore the Squid Grounds map before it rotates into the regular lineup starting June 30.

The map includes locations inspired by the show, like Red Greens, Square Meals, The Labyrinth, and Designer Docks. Each area is packed with the eerie atmosphere fans expect from Squid Game. The design mixes Fortnite’s fast-paced combat with the uneasy energy of the show’s twisted versions of childhood games. Players who are fans of the series will notice small visual details that connect the map to key moments from earlier seasons.

Epic added new weapons and items to Reload. The Red-Eye SMG, Boogie Bomb, and Glider Redeploy are now part of the loot pool. The timing also lined up with a ranked mode reset, giving competitive players a chance to climb the ladder again from day one.

For those who want more than bragging rights, the Squid Grounds Cup kicked off on June 25 with prizes including V-Bucks and cash. The tournament is open to players across all platforms and has already drawn plenty of attention from Fortnite’s competitive scene.

Along with the new map, Fortnite launched a batch of Squid Game cosmetics. Players can grab skins based on the Guards, Managers, and Contestants, along with Fortnite’s original characters dressed in green tracksuits. The full bundle runs about 3,000 V-Bucks, while individual skins range from 1,200 to 1,500. For those who’d rather earn than spend, some items are available through Twitch Drops or by placing high in the Cup.

Creative players aren’t left out. Epic rolled out Squid Game-themed tools in the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, giving creators access to props, devices, characters, and full starter islands based on the show. These tools allow players to design their own Squid Game-inspired experiences. User-made maps using the new assets will start appearing in August, and Epic confirmed they’ll include Netflix branding.

The update is getting mixed reactions online. Some fans love the detail and competitive setup, while others aren’t sold on the pricing or the crossover itself. But whether you’re chasing wins in Reload or building games, Squid Grounds brings something different to Fortnite.

With its full map takeover, new loot, and tie-ins for both casual players and creators, this crossover is more than just a skin drop. It’s a survival challenge that fits right into Fortnite’s ever-changing world.
