American Legion Gaming (ALG) is inviting contributors to share original stories, perspectives, and insights centered on gaming and its impact within the military-connected community on americanlegion.gg. Veterans, active-duty service members, military spouses, and family members are strongly encouraged to submit.
American Legion Gaming is dedicated to enriching the lives of veterans and service members through gaming. The organization focuses on creating a supportive space where participants can find comfort, build meaningful connections, and explore career opportunities tied to gaming and digital media. These priorities are guided by ALG’s three core pillars: comfort, connection, and careers.
All submissions must align with at least one of these pillars.
The comfort pillar focuses on gaming as a tool for relaxation, stress management, and emotional support. Writers may explore how games help veterans navigate life transitions, reduce isolation, or maintain balance during challenging periods. Personal essays and reflective pieces are welcome.
The connection pillar centers on community and belonging. Gaming often provides a shared space where veterans and service members can reconnect with the teamwork and camaraderie they experienced during military service. Submissions may cover online gaming communities, esports, streaming, or shared experiences that bring people together.
The careers pillar focuses on professional opportunities within gaming and related industries. Writers may discuss paths into esports, content creation, streaming, game development, marketing, or technology. Articles may also include career advice, personal journeys, or guidance for veterans exploring new professional directions after service.
Submissions must be original, at least 400 words in length. While prior publishing experience is not required, writers should bring an authentic voice and perspective. Please include a short bio with your submission.
Writers whose work is selected will be published on American Legion Gaming platforms and shared with a wide audience interested in gaming and military culture.
Submissions should be emailed for consideration to:
