Stellar Blade has sold over 3 million copies across PlayStation 5 and PC. To celebrate, developer Shift Up surprised its entire team with brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. The gesture sparked immediate speculation that a Switch 2 version might be on the way, especially since the studio recently received development kits for the upcoming hardware.
Shift Up has made a habit of rewarding its developers. Earlier this year, after the game’s strong performance on PlayStation 5, the company gifted every employee a PS5 Pro along with a sizable cash bonus. Back in 2021, they handed out PS5 consoles during development. It’s clear Shift Up appreciates the people behind the game and knows how to celebrate when big goals are reached. While some studios give out bonuses quietly, Shift Up has been open about recognizing its team’s work, and that’s earned it praise across the industry.
A Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade has yet to be officially confirmed. A studio representative acknowledged that various platform options are being reviewed internally, but nothing official is in the works yet. Still, given the timing and how quickly the game is expanding beyond its original platform, the rumors are understandable. The presence of Switch 2 dev kits adds just enough fuel to keep the speculation going. Whether a version of the game eventually makes it to Nintendo’s next console remains to be seen, but fans are clearly interested.
The recent PC release has added serious momentum. Launched on June 11, the PC version sold over one million copies in just three days and reached nearly 200,000 concurrent players on Steam. This sets a new record for Sony’s single-player PC releases, outperforming titles such as God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, and Spider-Man Remastered. The only Sony title to draw more concurrent players is the multiplayer-focused Helldivers 2.

Director Hyung-tae Kim has also confirmed that a sequel is already in development. In a recent interview, he admitted that the first game originally had a deeper, more involved story. However, due to the high cost of producing cutscenes, much of the narrative had to be trimmed. The result was a game that left players with more questions than answers. Kim said the sequel will place a greater focus on storytelling and provide a much richer experience. That said, the team’s current priority is supporting the PC version, and the sequel likely will not be ready before 2027.
Nice achievement!

By the way, the “Save my name…” does NOT work. I’ve had it checked every time I’m on the site and it has never saved my information for the next time.
Back again. And, it still doesn’t remember my name.

And still not remembering my information. I guess it’s a good thing that I know my name and email address.
No surprise.
